Two site managers, Alvin Woodhouse and Gary Thomas from our South-West team have scooped coveted Seal of Excellence Awards at the National Housebuilders Council (NHBC) Awards for their work on the Harwood and Heritage developments at Great Oldbury, Stonehouse.
The awards are the most highly regarded in the house-building industry, recognising site managers’ dedication to high standards and quality. Both Alvin and Gary have received previous NHBC recognitions for their work, but this is the first time they have been awarded the regional Seal of Excellence Award, allocated to a select few at the very top of their profession.
Alvin, who has worked with us for 16 years, says: “No words can describe what it means to get such a distinguished award that is so difficult to win. It’s an incredible achievement! It only made it more special that I got to work alongside my son for this project. We spent a lot of energy and organisation to make sure that the Harwood development was perfect. Getting recognised for this work makes it all worth it.”
Gary, who has worked with us for 24 years, added: “As I’m nearing retirement, receiving this award at the end of my career means an awful lot. I have worked for Redrow for a long time as they’ve been a great employer, and I have been well looked after. Receiving an award in recognition of my hard work is the icing on the cake. Alvin and I had a great day at the awards, and I’ll be spending my prize money on one of my hobbies, wood turning, which I really enjoy in my free time. Thanks Redrow, and thank you NHBC!”

Judging for the Awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July, and each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
The winners of the prestigious industry award are selected from a pool of 16,000 site managers across the UK. Site managers from almost every area in which we are based have been recognised as Quality Award winners earlier this year.
