We have acquired a 6.5-acre site along Bartons Road in Southleigh, Havant.
Purchased with an outline consent in place, we will be submitting a reserved matters application to Havant Borough Council for 70 new homes in due course.
The homes for private sale will range in size from two- to four-bedrooms, meanwhile 21 homes will be available at affordable tenure, either through shared ownership or affordable rent.
Over 50% of the development will be designated green open space, including a community orchard and wildflower meadow to the north of the site, acting as a natural buffer to the ancient woodland immediately to the north.
The site adds to our growing presence across Hampshire and follows Elm Green and Oak Vale, our existing communities in nearby Waterlooville. Meanwhile, Maple Walk, a 14-acre development in Liphook for 175 homes, officially launches this month.
Craige Burden, Head of Planning for the Southern Counties division, commented: “This parcel of land offers a fantastic opportunity to deliver high-quality new homes in a stunning, sustainable location whilst having great access to the wider countryside and south coast.
“We look forward to continuing our engagement with Havant Borough Council as we take this development forward over the coming months.”
The site offers views of the coast to the south and is surrounded by multiple green open spaces, including Hollybank Woods and Emsworth Park, along with Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and several beaches, including Hayling Island and West Wittering.
Likewise, it is favourably located near multiple big employers, including Spire Portsmouth Hospital which sits directly adjacent, along with Pfizer in Havant. Portsmouth, Chichester and Southampton are all only a short car journey away, ranging from 14 to 40-minutes. The closest train station is Warblington, less than a 30-minute walk away or four-minutes by car.
