Redrow teams up with schools for sports days
Two Wakefield schools were on to a winner after teaming up with Redrow Homes for their sports days.
Redrow’s Yorkshire division, based in Wakefield, contacted schools in areas in which it’s building offering to support their sports days.
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), commented: “The nation has been going sports crazy thanks to the recent Euro 2012 football tournament, Wimbledon fortnight and the forthcoming Olympics and Paralympics about to take place in London. At Redrow we’re keen to harness this enthusiasm and support sport at grass roots level.
“We were particularly keen to play an active role in the community and get involved with schools in Wakefield as not only are our divisional headquarters in the town, but we’ve recently launched our Scholars Gate development in Ruskin Avenue, plus we are preparing to launch our latest development in Haigh Moor Road, West Ardsley. It was a pleasure to be able to help get these school sports’ days under starter’s orders and reward the children who took part.”
Redrow baseball caps were donated to Newton Hill for the school’s Four Days of Fitness Extravaganza.
Chris Paine, PE co-ordinator at Newton Hill, said: “The donation of 174 Redrow hats meant that every child received a prize. We’re grateful for their generosity.”
Over at Wrenthorpe Primary, Redrow provided banners for the start and finish lines in the school’s mini-marathon, plus baseball caps and teddy bears as prizes for children who won events in the Olympic-themed sports day.
Teacher Sally Mayman said: “The banners were great as they helped mark out the course for our mini-marathon around the school grounds, while the donation of the caps and bears meant that children of all ages received a prize.”
