Redrow customers prepare to go up, up and away
HOMEBUYERS Sharron and Michael Rimmer will have a novel way to celebrate their new home.
The couple are looking forward to a hot air balloon flight after Sharron won a free prize draw organised by Redrow Homes.
The couple, who are in the process of buying a new home at The Sycamores, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, came along to the York Balloon Fiesta – where Redrow was taking part – to collect their prize.
They’ve won a hot air balloon flight voucher for two people that will let them fly from one of a hundred UK locations – including Temple Newsam, Ripley Castle and York Racecourse – over the next 12 months. Although, after getting to try operating the burners of Redrow’s own hot air balloon, their 12-year-old son Jacob may be looking to hitch a ride!
“I’ve never won anything before so it was a lovely surprise,” said Sharron.
“We’ve talked about doing a hot air balloon flight but I’m not sure we’d have ever done anything about it ourselves so this is very exciting. It will be something to look forward to after we move into our new home.”
The family, who previously lived in Pool in Wharfedale, are currently staying with friends in Bardsey, Leeds, while their new Redrow home is built. They hope to move into the four-bedroom detached Henley before the end of the year.
Redrow held the free prize draw at developments across Yorkshire to celebrate its involvement in the inaugural York Balloon Fiesta, held at York Racecourse. Redrow’s hot air balloon took part in the event, including an atmospheric night glow, and their mascots Buster and Buddy Bear were there to help entertain the crowds.
A second prize draw was held for people who visited the show itself and a selfie competition on Twitter was won by Simon Middleyard, from York.
