The bells ring in the changes with new Sherburn Home
IT came as a surprise to Lynn and Michael Bell that their dream home was a new build, but since discovering their Redrow home in Sherburn-in-Elmet they’ve never looked back.
Having looked at various older properties on the market, an advert for a Redrow development popped up while they were searching and it whetted their appetite for brand new homes.
“We wanted a change but we hadn’t considered a new-build home as we thought it would be a more complicated process and there wouldn’t be much storage or character,” Lynn, 59 and a mammographer, explained.
They looked initially at Redrow homes in Steeton, before turning their attention to The Sycamores, at Sherburn-in-Elmet, near Selby.
“When we looked at Redrow’s homes in Steeton we realised that they were exactly what we wanted and went against everything we had believed. From there we found out about the homes Redrow was building in Sherburn and we really fell for the style and layout of one of the four-bedroom show homes, the Welwyn,” Lynn continued.
“It’s a very spacious home and it was beautifully decorated so it really appealed and showed us what we could achieve. We also really liked the economical aspect of the new homes and their energy efficiency. What’s more, there was plenty of storage and a utility room so it ticked all the boxes.”
The couple used Mastermove to sell their previous property, an initiative whereby Redrow handles the sale of the customer’s home for them, arranging valuations and appointing an estate agent to market the property at an agreed price.
“We thought Mastermove was fantastic,” said postman Michael, 63. “We ended up finding a buyer for our house in four days and we were kept up to date all along the way. Legal matters were easily resolved and it really sped things up.”
With Mastermove, it doesn’t matter whether the customer is moving up, down or sideways on the property ladder as, unlike part-exchange, it doesn’t matter if the customer is buying a property that’s worth less than the one they are selling.
As well as taking care of red tape, Redrow will even make a contribution to the agent’s fees. All the buyer needs to do is select the right new home for them – and there is no shortage of options.
“The customer service we’ve experienced has been brilliant,” Lynn added. “From the sales consultant Jamie at the beginning of the process, through to everyone we dealt with regarding Mastermove and the site manager after we’d moved in. And, because we’re both from Garforth, not far away, we’ve got the change of scenery we wanted but are still close to everything we need.”
The Sycamores, where the Bells chose their new Welwyn style home, is now almost sold out, but it sits alongside a second Redrow development, Saxon Gardens, which enjoys the same village setting and all the amenities of an established community, while the surrounding fields give it a great rural feel.
At the same time Redrow’s houses are close to Selby, with everything a market town can offer, and convenient for York and Leeds which can both be reached by train – York in less than 20 minutes from Sherburn-in-Elmet station and Leeds from nearby South Milford station.
The final few homes at The Sycamores include the impressive Sunningdale show home, which is up for sale for £394,950. Neighbouring development Saxon Gardens has prices from £274,950 for a choice of four-bedroom detached houses with more three-bedroom semi and detached homes coming soon.
All homes are now being sold from the Saxon Gardens’ show homes and sales suite, usually open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information, visit the sales suite, call 01977 717516 or go to www.redrow.co.uk/thesycamores or www.redrow.co.uk/saxongardens.
