Redrow stumps up support for pensioners Christmas lunch Cirrus Import
MORLEY Cricket and Sports Club has been bowled over by Redrow after the housebuilder pitched in to support the club’s first pensioners’ Christmas lunch.
As well as donating raffle prizes and paying for a professional photographer to create a record of the event, marketing co-ordinator Jonny Leivesley and area sales manager Sam Brackenbury donned their Santa hats to serve the festive lunch to around 30 guests.
“Redrow has been brilliant,” said Teresa Bickerdyke, events organiser for the club. “This is the first lunch we have held but I would like to think it will become an annual event.
“The club is a focal point for the community and I decided that, as much as people supported the club, it was only right that the club should give something back.
“Redrow supported our Wicketfest event earlier this year and now this. It is great to be building up a relationship with the company which is creating homes for our community, and working with them to do something so positive for it,” she added.
Some of the pensioners were members of the club but the majority were people who had been nominated by Help the Aged, along with some of physio Teresa’s patients.
They were welcomed with a drink before tucking into a fabulous three-course lunch and later treated to bingo and carol singing at the Scatcherd Lane venue.
There was also a raffle with prizes including the M&S voucher for £100 donated by Redrow.
Sales manager Sam said Redrow’s involvement had been very much appreciated by all those who attended but he added: “I think Jonny and I enjoyed it every bit as much as they did!
“To see the smiles on people’s faces and help spread a bit of Christmas cheer was amazing. It has certainly put me in a festive mood and, as Teresa said, it’s great to be establishing such a good relationship with Morley Cricket and Sports Club and the thriving community in which we are building.”
In August Redrow paid for the large mobile stage on which local bands performed for the Club’s Wicketfest music festival. It was the fifth year the event had been held and was bigger and better than ever before.
The club is close to Redrow’s Weavers Chase development which offers three and four-bedroom homes currently from £289,950. For more details call 0113 223 4337, or visit www.redrow.co.uk/weaverschase.
