Shopping spree await Redrow prize winner as Martin House raises £2,500 at Xmas fair
AN M&S spending spree awaits Laura Gibbs after winning herself £200 worth of gift vouchers from Redrow Homes.
Laura, from Pocklington, collected her prize from St Andrew’s Place, in Newton Kyme, after winning a free prize draw in conjunction with the Martin House Christmas Fair held in Wetherby town hall last month.
Laura, whose daughter, Ellie, and partner are looking to buy a Redrow home in nearby Sherburn-in-Elmet, never expected to win. “I guess I’ll have to share the prize with my daughter, as I wouldn’t have entered if it wasn’t for her,” she said.
Redrow was a sponsor of Martin House’s second annual Christmas Fair, which raised a total £2,500 for the children’s hospice based in Boston Spa.
“Sponsorship from Redrow helped us to put on the event and give it a more festive feel, with decorations and mulled wine. It was well attended and everyone had fun,” said Sara Cracknell, events fundraiser for Martin House.
Redrow is a long-time supporter of the hospice, having recently raised over £50,000 in just two years. It costs £18,000 a day to look after children with life-limiting illnesses and to support their families, either within Martin House itself, in hospitals or in their own homes; and the hospice relies entirely on donations, legacies and fundraising.
Patsy Aicken, Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) sales director, said: “Supporting the Christmas Fair was just one in a long line of activities to support Martin House and we also have one of our senior designers running the London Marathon in April to raise more funds. It’s a fantastic place with amazing staff who provide great services.”
With its Georgian influenced Regent Collection townhouses, St Andrew’s Place, on the edge of picturesque Newton Kyme and close to Boston Spa, is the nearest Redrow development to Martin House but all of the homebuilder’s sites fall within the hospice’s catchment area.
