Morley's own 'calendar girls' reveal new show home
So impressed was Redrow by the women’s courage and good humour that they decided to make them VIPs for the day and invited them along to cut the show home ribbon.
On this occasion though, members of Rhubarb and Custard Morley WI kept their clothes on!
In return for them officially opening the new four-bedroom detached show home at Redrow’s Weavers’ Chase development in Morley, the housebuilder donated £500 towards the group’s mammoth fundraising efforts for the Brain Tumour Research & Support charity and other causes.
It brings the total they’ve raised to date via their calendar to £10,330.
Rachael Kennedy, president of the WI group and a model for this month (April) in the charity calendar, said: “We’re a relatively new WI group having launched less than two years ago, but we’ve certainly hit the ground running when it comes to making a local impact.
“It’s a real honour to be invited along to open the gorgeous show home at Weavers’ Chase and we’re incredibly grateful to Redrow for supporting our fundraising efforts and, in turn, the local community. The show home is lovely and we really enjoyed our tour of it – a home like that is the perfect place to relax with a coffee and a slice of cake!”
Redrow’s four bedroom ‘Cambridge’ show home has been professionally designed and is fully dressed with all fixtures and fittings.
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow (Yorkshire) added: “We’re really proud of the show home here at Weavers’ Chase, which shows off all of the ‘bare essentials’ of a family lifestyle in Morley. When we saw the WI ladies’ daring exploits in the local media we were very impressed and thought it would be an honour – and great fun – to have them open our show home. It’s lovely to help such a popular local community group and we wish them well with all their future fundraising.”
For those who want to visit Weavers’ Chase for themselves, the West Yorkshire development is located off Albert Road, perfectly placed close to Morley town centre and six miles south west of Leeds. It will be home to a mix of semi-detached and detached, three and four-bedroom properties in a range of styles - all of which will have a private garden and parking – to suit first-time buyers, families and downsizers.
The development is just a few minutes’ walk from Morley Station with regular trains into Leeds city centre taking only 12 minutes, and with connections to Manchester, Huddersfield and London. For motorists the M62 and M1 are conveniently close.
The show home and sales centre is open from Thursday to Monday inclusive 10am to 5.30pm. Visit www.redrow.co.uk/weaverschase or call 0113 223 4337 for more information.
