Bake Off favourites will make Churchfields opening a tasty treat
TWO former Great British Bake Off contestants will be whipping up some beautiful bakes and creating heavenly crepes to help launch new show homes in Green Hammerton on Saturday, February 10.
Everyone’s welcome at Redrow’s Churchfields development to join in the fun, try out some tasty treats and view two brand new fully furnished show homes.
Val Stones and Louise Williams were popular contestants in the hit TV show’s seventh series, which aired in 2016.
Val won the hearts of GBBO viewers with her bake-aerobics, optimistic outlook and stories about her family. Making it through to pastry week, Val got top marks from the judges for her classic bakes and came out on top in the tricky Dampfnudel technical challenge.
Louise impressed the judges with her flavours, but famously left Bake Off after her dream wedding gingerbread scene collapsed in the final moments of the showstopper challenge. Despite the disaster, her never-ending positivity made her popular with fans of the show.
Louise and Val remained friends after Bake Off finished, and regularly meet to share recipes and bake together. Last year they joined forced to make a series of films for Redrow, demonstrating how the homebuilder’s kitchens are as practical as they are pretty.
Now they’re bringing their warm personalities and baking prowess to Churchfields, in Green Hammerton, North Yorkshire, to help launch two new show homes, the three-bedroom Ashbourne and four-bedroom Bramham.
They’ll be putting the Bramham’s beautifully fitted kitchen to the test, while providing recipe advice and cooking tips to visitors ahead of Shrove Tuesday (Feb 13) and Valentine’s Day (Feb 14).
Val said: “With pancake day coming up I’ll be making sweet crepes and some savoury ones too, to give people a few ideas. However, as we’re both romantics at heart, Louise is planning some of her heart shaped focaccia with dips and I’ll be baking Valentines chocolate and rose cupcakes too.
“We’re not sure what else is on the menu yet but Louise makes some excellent savoury pasties and I’m told my sausage rolls are delicious. Whatever we bake on the day one thing’s guaranteed – plenty of samples for Redrow’s customers to try!”
Redrow’s two fully furnished show homes promote a development of two, three and four-bedroom properties within a delightful Yorkshire village midway between York and Harrogate. There’s a primary school and village pub within a short walk, while the train station is only a mile away.
Current prices are from £409,950 for a three-bedroom detached house, while a four-bedroom detached Bramham, like the show home, is available from £479,950.
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “We’re delighted to have Val and Louise with us for the day and know that customers will enjoy their banter as well as their beautiful bakes. But, above all, visitors will also be able to see our fabulous show homes for the first time and appreciate the lifestyle that’s waiting to be enjoyed at our Churchfields development.”
Redrow’s new show homes will be open from 10am on Saturday, February 10, with Val and Louise cooking up a storm in the kitchen between 11am and 3pm.
Thereafter the homes will be open Thursday to Monday inclusive from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information visit www.redrow.co.uk/churchfields or call 01423 586905.
