We’ve donated a life-saving defibrillator from our completed Horsforth Vale development to a sports pavilion in the town.
We completed the Horsforth Vale development at the end of 2020 after transforming two redundant industrial sites into brand new thriving community that has welcomed over 500 families.
The defibrillator from the site is now in a new home outside Horsforth Cricket Club’s pavilion and can be accessed 24/7 by the local community.
This is the third device we have donated to communities close to where we build with one going into a nursery school in Pontefract and we also paid for a brand-new defibrillator to be installed at Sherburn High School, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire.
It follows our pledge to rehome defibrillators from completed construction sites across Yorkshire within local communities.
Steve Jackson, sales director for Yorkshire said: “We are aiming to leave a life-saving legacy in the cities, towns and villages where we build. Previously we have paid for a brand-new defibrillator to be installed at Sherburn High School, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, and donated a defibrillator from our completed Springfields development in Highburton, near Huddersfield, to a nursery in Pontefract. Our aim now is that every time a Redrow development is completed in Yorkshire, the defibrillator will be donated to the local community.

Local resident Judith was part of a team of people who fundraised for two defibrillators to be fitted within Horsforth Vale while it was still under construction and after approaching us to see if we could support their efforts, this was when we promised to donate the defibrillator from Horsforth Vale’s construction site when the site completed.
Judith’s neighbour’s life was saved by a defibrillator when he went into cardiac arrest while out on a bike ride and so she understood just how crucial the devices are: “It’s great to see the defibrillator be installed in the sports pavilion. The two devices that are installed at either end of Horsforth Vale are there for the development itself but the new one in the pavilion will be for the wider community. It’s been a real community effort and it’s reassuring to know we have three devices should anyone need them.”
We will continue to maintain the local sports field and pavilion as part of our community contributions linked to Horsforth Vale. In total, approximately £14 million has been paid to improve the local area including £7 million worth of affordable housing, £948,000 towards local education and £1.76 million to provide a new bus service between Horsforth Vale and Horsforth train station along with two new bus stops.
We are currently building homes in East and South Yorkshire including Aspen Park at Roundwood, in Garforth, where they are repeating our formula of regenerating a redundant industrial site. This time it’s the old Stocks Blocks production facility that’s being replaced with high quality two, three and four-bedroom homes, where current prices range from £241,950 to £349,950.
Another option is Thorpe Park, Leeds, where a brand new residential environment is being delivered alongside the city’s popular business, retail and leisure destination. Homes here are currently available from £209,950 to £436,950.
