EducationHenmore Gardens is conveniently close to Ashbourne Hilltop Infants School, avoiding the trouble and traffic of a school run. The popular school was rated ‘good with outstanding behaviour’ by Ofsted. St Oswald’s CofE Infants provides an alternative, just a short distance away in the town, and is also rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.
The town operates a three-tier education system, with the ‘good’ rated Parkside Junior providing a stepping stone to Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School. Established in 1585, this non-selective grammar is also rated ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ leadership and behaviour.

LeisureAs a major tourist destination on the edge of the Peak District, Ashbourne has excellent leisure facilities for such a small town, including Ashbourne Leisure Centre and Ashbourne Golf Course. A wide range of water sports are available at Carsington Water, with endless outdoor activities available in the 555 square miles of the National Park.
Ashbourne is home to the historic Royal Shrovetide football match, where half the town plays the other half under ancient riles, with goals 3miles apart. The town also hosts an annual Highland Gathering as well as a town show and Ashbourne Festival.
History buffs will love the huge choice of historic halls within reach, including Chatsworth, Sudbury Hall, Hardwick Hall, Kedleston Hall and Tissington Hall, while for a more modern adventure, Alton Towers theme park is just 16miles away.

ShoppingThe historic market in Ashbourne dates back to 1257, and is still held outdoors on the cobbled marketplace every Thursday and Saturday. The town also has lots of fascinating hidden alleys to explore, with a wide range of quirky independent shops to discover. TransportAshbourne enjoys a central location in the East Midlands, with a number of large towns and cities within easy reach. Derby is just 13miles, Burton 18miles, Stoke/Newcastle-under-Lyme around 25miles, Nottingham 28miles and Stafford also 28miles, making them all within a reasonable commute.
There are regular bus services across the region, with mainline rail available from either Derby or Stoke, linking to London and the North of England.
