Your Redrow journey from exchange to completion
You’ve bought your dream new home from Redrow… congratulations! Wondering what happens next? This guide walks you through every step from signing on the dotted line to getting those all-important keys.
Once you’ve purchased your new home you will have a chance to attend a series of events that will help to guide you through the rest of your home buying journey. We will also keep you updated as to when you will be able to move into your new home and will ensure you receive all the information and support you need.
Here’s everything you need to know about going from exchange to completion on a new home with Redrow.

What happens when you buy a new home with Redrow?
Getting to the end of the conveyancing process and finally exchanging contracts is always an exciting time—second only to actually getting the keys to your new home!
There are a few steps between exchanging and completing the full purchase to make sure everything is as smooth as possible. To help you understand exactly what will happen and what you’ve got to look forward to, we’ve put together this guide to the Redrow home buying process.
Redrow welcome party
After exchanging contracts on a new house, you will be invited to a Redrow welcome party (depending on the build stage of your home), where you will have a chance to meet your new neighbours at your development, enjoy some drinks and canapes, and get to know the neighbourhood.
The welcome party usually takes place in one of the show homes on your development, and will help you to feel part of the community straight away, as well as introducing you to our customer service team.
Development visit
You will also be invited to join us on site for a ‘hard hat visit’ to see how the build of your new home is progressing. This will give you a chance to look behind the scenes and see just what goes into building your Redrow home, meet the site team and ask them any questions you may have.
The availability of this event will depend on where the construction of your home is up to at the point of reservation. For health and safety reasons you will be required to wear appropriate personal protection equipment which we will provide (and which makes for a great photo opportunity!).
Previewing your new home
In addition to the hard hat visit, you will also get an exclusive preview of your new home around two weeks before your move in day.
This is a perfect opportunity for us to show you some of the key benefits of your new home and demonstrate how all of the fittings and appliances work. The home preview gives you the chance to familiarise yourself with your new home.
New home completion
On the day of completion, your solicitor will take care of everything on your behalf, with the help of our sales team. You should now have signed the mortgage and transfer deeds and the deeds of the house will be passed on to your solicitor.
The balance of monies due (i.e. the final purchase price less the amount of the reservation fee and exchange deposit) should also now be transferred to Redrow via your solicitor. A notice to complete may be issued if the agreed deadline is missed, but your conveyancer will handle all the details.
Once the balance of monies has been received, you will become the proud owner of your brand new Redrow home, and it’ll be time to read our guide to moving.
To the best of Redrow’s knowledge, everything in this guide is true at the time of writing. All descriptions, images and plans are illustrations, examples and/or approximations only and some processes listed may differ when buying a Redrow home, please speak with the sales team at your chosen development for more details. Redrow does not accept any liability or responsibility contractual or otherwise for any reliance on the information contained within the guide.
