While that takes care of some of the bigger decisions, such as your new kitchen cabinets and worktops, bathroom, tiles, flooring and fitted wardrobes, the really fun stuff starts when you move in.
YOUR Redrow

“Our specification is designed bespoke by our in-house interiors team - something that no other builder ensures,” said Alysha. “We collaborate with some of the biggest and most sought-after suppliers so you can visit each room and select standard items you’d like fitting to your home, or upgrade items and finishes for that extra touch of luxury.”
Kitchen doors and worktops, wet room vanity cabinets and mirrors, appliances, and flooring are just some of the choices you can make. Alysha said: "Wet areas, which is what our homes are famous for, can really enhance a home, that’s why we give you the choice to personalise yours with a variety of diverse and premium tiles, alongside optional extras including underfloor heating, cabinets and full height tiling."
You even have the choice of free-standing bedroom furniture - all you need to bring are the clothes to go in them.
Designed by you
We all have ideas about how we want our home to look, and whether that’s taking inspiration from the latest trends and designs with natural crafts or white sculptured ornaments, opting for a bit of Boho-chic for the free-spirited among us, or keeping things simple and elegant with a Hygge-style home, it’s entirely up to you. For many, the urge to choose more sustainable and eco-friendly furnishings and accessories is paramount.
Here are a few of Alysha’s top interior design tips to make an instant impact:
- Placing rugs on hardwood floors will help make a home feel much cosier and create texture and warmth to the space. You can layer rugs with a variety of weaves and piles to add depth to a room, pull out an accent colour as a trim border, or define different areas of use.
- Using throws and blankets on accent chairs and sofas will have a similar effect, creating a comfortable environment and adding that pop of colour and texture to your home. You can layer them for a range of looks: for an elegant and sophisticated aesthetic neatly fold your throw lengthwise into thirds, and drape it over the back of the sofa or sofa arm, either in the centre or off-centre; or create ripples in the top half of a throw or blanket for a more casual laid back look.
- Add mood lighting using low level lamps and candles somewhere high and out of reach of children and pets - placing them in a variety of heights in clusters, for a warm and tranquil feel.
Incorporating artwork
Artwork adds personality to a space and to your home, whether you go for traditional pieces, modern prints or strike out with a bold sculpture; and what you fill your home with says a lot about the person you are.
Home stores are the obvious places to buy your artwork from, but try searching local art galleries and exhibitions too where you might find interesting work from local young, up-and-coming artists who you can help and support; seek it out from craft fayres or markets, and charity stores.
Find art that speaks to you, that leaps out because it reinforces your thoughts and beliefs, or, simply, art that suits the design of your home, or sets the tone for individual rooms from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Put yourself in the picture
Photos of your family and friends make a house feel like home, they reflect love and nostalgia back at those who live in it, and it’s one of the most clear and significant ways of personalising a house and putting your stamp on it.
You’re surrounded by those who mean the most to you which can also be comforting and reassuring and you can choose photos that illustrate special moments and events which have shaped you and the life you have. “You can also frame some of your children’s favourite pieces of artwork to organise them and create even more personality within the space,” says Alysha.
Group family photos together with slight overlaps on picture shelves or use a variety of complementary frames to create a gallery wall.
