Students from a nearby college were invited to attend a special careers event in Leicestershire.
Redrow East Midlands hosted a special careers workshop at its Chantry Mews development, on Tay Road, to encourage local students from Brockington College to learn more about the opportunities in the housebuilding sector.
The students were given a tour of the site and were invited to see behind the scenes of how an active building site works.
They were also introduced to trainees, apprentices and Redrow Graduate, Beth Salisbury, so they could ask any questions they had on the different career paths available at Redrow.
“I was delighted to talk to our visitors from Brockington College about the benefits of a career in housebuilding.
“I was the first person in the East Midlands to complete Redrow’s sponsored degree programme, which meant I could complete a degree while working full time. I gained skills in time management, perseverance and dedication during the process.
“I really enjoyed talking to the students about my career so far and I wish them all the luck for the future.”
Chris Smith, Area Construction Manager, at Redrow East Midlands, added: “We loved welcoming students from Brockington College to our Chantry Mews development in Leicestershire.
“Each year – as part of our continued commitment to valuing people – we provide opportunities for young people in the area to kickstart a career in housebuilding. From work experience and apprenticeships to sponsored degrees and graduate programmes, here at Redrow East Midlands we offer something for everyone.
“Thank you to all the students who came along, we are very much looking forward to hosting another session very soon.”
The meeting also follows the success of Redrow East Midland’s ongoing apprenticeship scheme, which has been running since 2017. The scheme, which saw the East Midland’s division take on 10 apprentices in 2021, gives students in the local area an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a career in housebuilding.
