We’ve donated £500 to Silver End Scout Group, helping to significantly subsidise the cost of their upcoming residential camping trips over the next year.
The donation will ensure that the mixed scout group’s children, aged 10-14, can attend the planned holidays with friends, boosting their mental health and wellbeing and exposing them to exciting activities great for physical exercise, all of which is a welcome reprieve following the multiple Covid-19 lockdowns.
To help build confidence among this cohort, Silver End Scout Group will be carefully staggering the trips, starting with the most local vacation for the shortest duration.
The first camp will be a one-night stay on a farm in East Mersea in September, followed by a weekend in the Peak District in May where the children will have to chance to try mountain biking and climbing as well as learning about the mining history of the local area. The final trip planned is a week in North Wales, where the group will stay at a Scout Centre and take part in more extreme activities, including climbing Mount Snowdon.

It will go a long way to helping us organise the camps and residentials which are an important part of the Scouts programme and another step to getting back to normal after such a rough year for the children.”
