Good Customer Service is Top of Ash’s Tick List

New recruit, Ash Turner, believes making every customer feel welcome and building true relationships is key to maintaining our five star customer satisfaction rating.

After working as a history teacher for the last year, Ash, 27, has returned to his first love – property – and also to Redrow.

He’s been appointed trainee area sales manager for our Lancashire division, based at Buckshaw Village, near Chorley.

Ash explains: “Before becoming a teacher, I was a sales consultant for Redrow and it was a role I thoroughly enjoyed. I only left because my degree was in history and the chance to teach my chosen subject came up and I thought I should give it a try. It wasn’t for me, though, and I found that I missed selling homes too much.

“Part of the reason I was tempted back was for the career progression opportunities you get with Redrow; and after initially returning as a sales consultant, the opportunity to become a trainee area sales manager came up so I went for it.”

In his trainee sales management role, Ash is overseeing seven sales consultants at four different developments in Clitheroe, Preston and Poulton-le-Fylde. He also liaises with the marketing team to maximise visitors to each location and works with the construction team to ensure all houses are finished to our high standards.

“Probably my most important role is to motivate the sales consultants to ensure we are providing Redrow’s high level of customer service. As part of this, I ask them about their best and worst sales experiences as a customer and also ask how they would feel if they could see themselves working. I always reiterate that every customer should feel welcome and it’s important to build a relationship with them from the minute they enter the sales centre.”

Ash says that every day in his new role is a school day, where he is constantly learning and he is looking forward to new responsibilities: “As a history graduate and ex-history teacher I like to see the bigger picture; and at Redrow this is something I get to do in my new role as I see how the business works in lots of different areas and how the part we deliver contributes to the whole.”

Keeping up to date on housing market conditions in Lancashire is also important and Ash says that lots of potential customers are now looking for homes with extra bedrooms that can be turned into a study so they can work from home. But that’s not the only change.

“On the flip side, we are also getting a good number of buyers who are looking to downsize as they have realised that their house is too big and needs a considerable amount of work doing to it; they want something brand-new and hassle-free,” he adds.
