First time buyer, 30-year-old Jane Devlin, recently reserved her new Redrow home during lockdown from her rented flat in Wandsworth, London. The engineer who recently relocated back to London from working in Canada and Australia in recent years, was keen to purchase a house and use the help to buy scheme. Finding a house, rather than a flat in London available under Help to Buy can be difficult so Jane was pleased to find Redrow’s Millfields development in Mitcham.
Millfields was ideal for Jane, offering a selection of three-bedroom three storey townhouses for under £600,000. The location was a key priority for Jane, with family and friends living in South London. Another requirement for this first-time buyer was having private outdoor space and proximity to nature – lockdown had shown her how important it was to have close access to outdoor space.
Jane Devlin said, "I was particularly drawn to the area due to the fact that it has a country village feel, despite being in close proximity to central London. The homes are surrounded by plenty of green space, as well as walking and running trails, and have their own private garden and terrace area too, which is perfect for spending more time at home."
London’s Hackbridge offers a unique blend of bustling town and country village. Set in a peaceful riverside setting, and surrounded by green space, the homes at Millfields are moments from hidden pockets of nature including Spencer Road Wetlands, an area of secluded wet willow woodland. The River Wandle runs past the site and a nature reserve is adjacent.
Another key consideration for Jane was how suitable her new home would be to home working.
Jane, continued, “Working from home more in the future was something I considered when purchasing the house too. The three-story set up is perfect – as I will have space to work that is completely separate from the other living areas, and noise is less likely to travel.”
Jane’s homes at Millfields is nearly ready to move into, so she can enjoy the local community and outdoor space over the summer.
While homes at Millfields have now sold out, we have a selection of homes across London and the South East. To find out more visit here.
