Katie Thicker and her fiancé Reece Beddows lived in Pembrokeshire with their in-laws before relocating to a new Telford development.
The couple decided to move to Telford to be closer to Reece’s job, as a personal training instructor for the Royal Air Force, and Katie’s job as a paramedic in Gloucestershire. Moving into The Ledbury at Abbey Walk, along with their dog, a one-year-old dachshund, Otis, the couple knew instantly they had found the home of their dreams.
Katie and Reece were able to purchase their dream home using the inheritance from Katie’s grandad, which made up half their deposit, and Reece’s family were kind enough to give the couple a quarter of the money needed with the final quarter of the money saved over two years by Reece.
Living with family meant the couple were able to maintain low outgoings, allowing Reece to save money each month that would equate to the cost of what they would roughly pay for their mortgage and bills – about £500 each month.
With the deposit saved the house-hunting journey was able to begin. Upon visiting Abbey Walk, the pair were impressed by our two-bedroom Ledbury, which is part of our Heritage Collection, and perfectly embodies traditional craftsmanship that is inspired by Arts and Craft architecture. While the outside offers tradition, the interior offers high-spec modern living, ideal for first-time buyers, offering spacious lounges and bedrooms.
The couple were quick to put down a deposit so they could look forward to starting the next chapter of their lives together in their dream home.
Katie said: “When we visited the Redrow development, it was everything we were looking for and more. We were immediately greeted by the friendly sales team who talked us through each house type and the future of the development. “We visited multiple show homes before visiting Abbey Walk and when we saw The Ledbury we knew this was where we wanted to live. The quality of the home in comparison to the ones we had seen previously really sold it for us. Reece’s dad also works within the construction industry and praised Redrow, which was the extra confirmation that this was the right decision for us. We are really excited to make new memories and watch everyone move into the development and be part of a new community here at Abbey Walk.”
Elaine Cartwright, sales director for our Midlands division, said: “We’re thrilled to have helped Reece and Katie find their dream home. What better way to start their lives together, than living in their first home and starting a brand-new adventure in Telford. It’s easy to see why The Ledbury at our Abbey Walk development caught their eye, with great transport connections for both Katie and Reece’s jobs, and with all the benefits of country living yet not far from major towns and cities – the development is perfect for a young couple. I hope Katie and Reece are very happy in their new home and congratulations on the engagement!”
The Ledbury is available from £245,000 at Abbey Fields and features a spacious lounge, open-plan kitchen/dining room and cloakroom downstairs. Upstairs there are two well-sized, double bedrooms, both featuring an en-suite.
Abbey Walk and Abbey Fields are located in Priorslee, which has long been Telford’s most desirable district, and it’s easy to see why. Although it is located conveniently close to the town, with the M54 just minutes away, it also enjoys open Shropshire countryside. Add outstanding schools and a range of leisure facilities on the doorstep, and you have the perfect place to set up a home.
With the lighter nights approaching, sales offices at all developments across the Midlands will be holding late-night events, staying open until 7.30pm on Tuesdays to accommodate busy schedules.
