Our Midlands division, are currently building new homes at Houtlon in Rugby, and have donated £600 to the 1st Houlton Guides as part of its Community Fund initiative.
1st Houlton Guides were founded in 2022 as part of the new growing community at Houlton. Since launching, the Guides now have a total of 19 girls in the unit, aged between 10 to 14 years old. The unit encourages the girls to explore things they love as well as do things they may have never done before.
The group solely relies on the subs from parents and donations to run the club and host activities. The leaders wanted to be able to take the girls on more trips, giving them opportunities to explore and learn more about the nature around them, but they needed camping equipment – and we couldn’t wait to help.
Alongside 1st Houlton Guides, six other charities benefited from the Community Fund – which saw a total of £5,000 donated – including West Mercia Search and Rescue, Worcestershire Animal Rescue and Changes Tamworth.
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director for Redrow Midlands, said: “We can’t wait to see 1st Houlton Guides go on their first camping trip. Local community groups, including the Guides, play a vital role in local people’s lives and we’re very proud to support them.
“Houlton 1st Guides are a new unit, and we are pleased that we can help them grow as a group as well as raise awareness for all the fantastic work they do for young girls in the thriving community at Houlton. We are so excited to hear all about their camping trip and we hope they have a fantastic time – try not to s-more girls!”
The new community at Houlton has excellent road and rail connections across the Midlands and beyond, with trains to London in less than an hour. The new link road also means that the train station and Rugby town is just five minutes away, and the new homes sit within easy reach of a choice of Ofsted ‘outstanding’ schools.
