We have donated vital funds to a Droitwich organisation.
As part of its commitment to building thriving communities, the team at our Midlands division, which is currently building new homes at The Orchards in Droitwich, has donated £500 to Box Positive.
Box Positive delivers non-contact boxing classes specifically designed for people with Parkinson's Disease. The sessions are led by Charles Delve, an occupational therapist and boxing coach, who runs the sessions in his spare time.
The classes offer participants the chance to take part in therapeutic exercise sessions tailored to their needs, supporting co-ordination and response times, as well as giving them the opportunity to make new friends in a supportive environment.
With sessions on hold since February due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Charles is hoping to resume the classes with limited numbers as soon as it’s safe to do so. The donation from Redrow Homes Midlands will allow the organisation to purchase new equipment, including PPE, to help re-start their vital sessions for those in the community.
Commenting on the donation, Charles said: “We are extremely grateful to Redrow Midlands for their kind donation. It will help in the purchase of PPE and other equipment needed to get our classes up and running once again.
“These sessions offer a unique opportunity for many people living with Parkinson’s disease to improve their fitness and wellbeing. The majority of people joining our group find their symptoms are reduced for a while after the session, they feel more flexible, stronger and energized – which is why it’s so important to host these classes in a safe, socially-distanced way once again.”
Elaine Cartwright, sales director for our Midlands division, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting such a wonderful community initiative. The boxing classes Charles provides are hugely important to those in the community living with Parkinson’s disease, and it is vital that these sessions are back up and running again soon.
“Creating thriving communities is at the heart of our ethos here at Redrow Midlands, and it’s wonderful to be able to support Charles and his fantastic organisation.”
The sponsorship is fitting with our ongoing commitment to promote health and wellbeing within the communities where it is building new homes.
