Shed loads of heart – Redditch housebuilder supports local charity set up by youngster

We’re currently building at Silverbrook Meadow on Foxlydiate Lane, and have donated £500 to Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank as part of its Community Fund initiative.

The fund, which was launched earlier this year, provides community organisations with donations to help them thrive, with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.

Started in November 2020 by then nine-year-old Isaac Winfield, the food bank began as a pop-up greenhouse on his driveway with the hope that it would help people who were struggling over Christmas.

Since then, the charity has grown and now has sheds across five locations dedicated to helping combat food insecurity in the local area. The food bank also boasts a team of 15 volunteers who help with the running of day-to-day activities while Isaac, now aged 12, attends school.

Claire Chapman, Isaac’s mum, and director of Friends of Isaacs Food Bank, said: “This donation will enable us to continue supporting many families in the area and make sure nobody in Redditch goes hungry.

“This initiative wouldn’t be possible without the selfless work of our volunteers, our supporters, and of course, Isaac. I’d like to say a huge thank you to them all, and to Redrow Midlands, for its kind donation.”

Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, added: “We are delighted to be able to support Friends of Isaac’s Food Bank with our latest Community Fund distribution.

“At Redrow Midlands, we are committed to building thriving communities, and it is inspiring to see what Isaac has created to help his community. We are proud to support his wonderful charity and its commitment to ending food poverty in Redditch.”

Situated in the Worcestershire countryside, Silverbrook Meadow offers beautiful new homes with great transport links to nearby big cities, including Worcester and Birmingham, making the development is perfectly located for young families and commuters alike.
