Redrow Midlands, currently building at Poets Grange on Station Road, invited children from Quinton Primary School to take part in a bug-tastic class at the development.
The interactive session, in partnership with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, took place in the gardens of the show homes at Poets Grange, and was designed to help educate and inspire local youngsters on the importance of insects and their impact on the environment.
Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director for Redrow Midlands, said: “We were thrilled to invite the local children to find out about the tiny creatures they can find on their doorstep.
“It is crucial for the future of the planet to spark young people's interest in the importance of nature early on and how we can all protect it. Hosting the class with the Wildlife Trust is just one way we are helping to nurture the curiosity of the young people in the local community, especially when it come to the great outdoors.
“We had a bug-tastic time letting the children explore the green spaces at Poets Grange to see what they could find. The Wildlife Trust did a fantastic job of highlighting the importance and the impact these critters have on the environment around them to the pupils.”
Our biodiversity strategy seeks to put the natural environment at the heart of its developments and the lives of the people who live there, supporting the community to care for nature-rich green spaces.
The strategy includes a net gain approach to biodiversity; with more than 1,205 acres of land on our developments being green space or landscaped communal areas where wildlife can flourish. Many developments also feature green routes for walking and cycling, newly created orchards or meadows, and wetland areas like ponds and swales.
We are committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and has set ambitious interim targets for both its direct and indirect emissions to help limit global warming to 1.5°C.
