We invited children from schools across West Cheshire, closest to our garden village developments in Chester and Ledsham, to draw and describe a home “Fit for a King”.
The competition winner was crowned last week as 11-year-old Evelyn, from Sutton Green Primary, in Ellesmere Port, who has won an outdoor reading hut for her school and a Smyth’s Toys voucher. Her design was based on the new King’s love of gardening and features “millions of flowerbeds” in the front garden and a bedroom filled with floral artwork. It also boasts gargoyle guards and a glass dome within the roof for stargazing.
Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director for Redrow (NW), said: “Evelyn’s design was a clear winner and is definitely “Fit for a King”. She really tapped into King Charles’ personal interests and requirements, which is what great house design should do. She also really thought about every element of the home and gave her reasons for why each feature was included, showing us both the interior and exterior.”
Head teacher Mr Stark said: “The children really enjoyed taking part in Redrow’s competition and used their imagination to come up with some really creative designs. We are so proud of Evelyn and were delighted to win the brand new reading hut for the school, which will be a great addition to our outdoor learning facilities.”
We also awarded several ‘highly commended’ prizes to other schools who entered the competition, including £250 to Little Sutton CofE Primary School, in Little Sutton, and five £50 Smyths Toys vouchers to its pupils Eva, age five, Ella, seven, Ben, eight, Amelia, nine and Scarlett, aged 11. Belgrave Primary School in Chester also received £250 and £50 Smyths Toys for highly commended pupils Alexandra, age five and Oliver, age nine.
We are building new homes at Kings Moat Garden Village in Chester and Ledsham Garden Village in Ledsham.
