Our South Midlands division, which is currently building new homes at Leestone Park, on Heath Road, has presented Spectrum Community Arts with a donation of £860 as part of our commitment to creating thriving communities.
Spectrum Community Arts provides performing arts workshops for people of all ages living with disabilities and additional needs. Through the expression of performing arts – music, dance, drama and craft – members are encouraged to build self-esteem and develop self-expression in a safe and welcoming space.
Thanks to our donation, the not-for-profit organisation, which currently has six clubs, will be able to cover staffing costs for their upcoming performing arts day – including hiring three professional facilitators. This will allow attendees to learn from showbiz experts and gain invaluable experience for any future careers in the arts. The donation will also go towards hiring a venue for the day. The Chiltern School, a local school specialising in additional needs, has been chosen for the day’s venue, meaning the funds are continuing to support other members within the community.
Jade Cook, Director of Spectrum Community Arts, said: “We are extremely grateful to Redrow South Midlands for their generosity. This kind donation will cover the costs of hiring professional facilitators so our participants can continue to engage in the performing arts. Thank you, Redrow!"
Suzanne Irons, Sales Director for the South Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be shining the spotlight on Spectrum Community Arts and contributing to their performing arts days.
“Grassroots organisations are essential to our communities, and provide people with an outlet to socialise, develop physical skills and learn valuable life lessons, particularly through the arts, which has been so badly impacted by the ongoing pandemic.
“In these difficult times, it’s important to support local causes, and we’re thrilled to have been able to make a difference. The show must go on!”
Leestone Park offers the ideal balance of rural living with great connections to surrounding towns. The centre of Leighton Buzzard is just a mile and a half away from the development, and the handy train station means you can travel to Milton Keynes in less than fifteen minutes. In due course, there are also plans for a community centre to be built on the development, as well as an orchard and plenty of open spaces – making the location perfect for families.
