As one of our leading initiatives, we have pledged to 1000 days of volunteering. To achieve this, we’ve has given each of our employees two paid days leave to volunteer for their local community or good causes.
Our technical team decided to focus on a cause that links to our core values on sustainability, where one of our key missions is creating and enhancing wildlife on our developments. In a similar vein, 20 members of our technical team spent a whole day planting trees at Bristol’s Purdown. The group enjoyed the day so much that they have also planned a second day of volunteering cleaning a beach.
As well as being a great contribution to the local community, the day was a brilliant bonding experience particularly as up until recently, the team had only been interacting over Zoom due to the pandemic.
So far we have contributed to a vast range of fantastic causes. During the pandemic, sales consultant Nalab Alaf volunteered for the NHS, providing transportation to and from a local hospital and delivering vital medicine to vulnerable people.
Ben Smith, technical manager for the South East, who was part of the industrious team, says: “Supporting local communities is central to what we do. For us, it is important that this is a value that exists across our whole company, which is why all of our employees actively participate in and volunteer for local initiatives. It’s wonderful seeing how much of an impact each individual can make.”
Lee Hawker, managing director for South West, says: “Supporting local communities is central to what we do. For us, it is important that this is a value that exists across our whole company, which is why all of our employees actively participate in and volunteer for local initiatives. It’s wonderful seeing how much of an impact each individual can make. I am very proud of the team for finding time to make this valuable contribution to the local community.”
