Paul and his wife Pamela, both in their 70s, had always lived in Bristol before relocating to their new home in Winscombe.
The couple made the decision to move to the countryside after retiring, opting to swap busy city life for the peaceful beauty of the Mendip Hills – and the opportunity to be closer to their family.
Paul and Pamela’s son, James, moved to Woodborough Grange in 2022 and, after only a handful of visits, the couple fell in love with the development.
Paul said: “We knew we didn’t want to live in the city anymore, but we still wanted to be within easy reach of everything we might need – especially as we’re getting older. We’d visited James a few times and found that everything such as shops, the dentist and the doctors were within walking distance.”
Looking to find their forever home, the couple had plenty of boxes to tick – including a garage, plenty of parking space and a spacious garden. After viewing the four-bedroom Balmoral, Paul and Pamela knew they’d found the home for them.
Commenting on their decision, Pamela said: “We knew we wanted to downsize – we’d lived in our previous six-bedroom home for over 40 years but now the children are grown up and moved out, we didn’t need all that space anymore. It was important to us that our new house was smaller without feeling like we’d compromised on space – the Balmoral is perfect for us.” Paul added: “Having a new-build was vital, all the homes we’ve lived in have been new-build as I’m hopeless at DIY – we wanted everything to be ready to move into without needing any work. We thought the quality and finish of the Redrow show homes we viewed was the best – especially the traditional 1930s style of the homes.”
Sian Smith, sales director for our South West division, said: “We’re delighted that Paul and Pamela have found their dream home at Woodborough Grange. It’s easy to see why they were drawn to The Balmoral, with its open-plan kitchen dining area being perfect for family get togethers, while four spacious bedrooms with two en-suites ensure the couple have plenty of space for their family to visit. The location truly is fantastic – the perfect blend of country living yet still easy access to plenty of amenities. I’m sure the whole team would join me in saying I hope Paul and Pamela are very happy in their new home!”
