A new primary school is set to open its doors to students in September 2021 at Redrow’s Great Oldbury development in Stonehouse, on land owned by Robert Hitchins as part of the wider consortium site.
Part of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance Trust (GLA), Great Oldbury Primary Academy will open its doors initially to EYFS and Year 1 with additional spaces in the school-run nursery and preschool named Great Oldbury Little Learners. The school aims to eventually have a capacity of 420 students from ages 2-11.
The new school will form part of our popular Great Oldbury site which opened in 2018 and will comprise 233 homes once completed. The development benefits from excellent connections to Gloucester, Bristol and Swindon, and the new school will also be joined by a health centre, local shop and a sports facility.
The state-funded primary school will offer a broad and balanced curriculum with a focus on preparation for the next phase of education. Claire Savory, Director of Academies at the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance said; ‘It has been a really exciting time as work has begun on the brand-new Great Oldbury Primary Academy. The school will aim to enable children to achieve their full potential academically and personally, and to be the very best that they can be.
“On the 1st September, we will also be opening our Section 10 consultation to gather the local community’s thoughts, opinions and answer any questions about plans for Great Oldbury Primary Academy.”
Situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, just minutes from the M5, the development has marked a major expansion for Stonehouse, with the new school adding to the exciting new community that has been created at the site.
Great Oldbury currently offers several three-bedroom house types which are well suited to family living; The Ludlow which is priced from £299,995 and The Oxford Lifestyle from £399,995. The four-bedroom Harrogate is also available from £439,995. All house types are from our Heritage Collection, which takes inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1930s.
Libby Bolton, sales manager at our South West division, said; “We are really excited to welcome Great Oldbury Primary Academy to the site as it will be perfectly positioned for families in the development.
