We have partnered with New Forest For Ukraine to provide a drop-off station for donations being sent to Ukrainian refugees.
The warehouse space is located at Ampress Park, an industrial estate on Bentley Way to the north of Lymington. The space will form part of the wider 20 drop off points that have been established across the region for nearby residents to drop off donations. The space is also being used for the sorting, packaging and collection of any items donated.
We own three commercial units at Ampress Park after we constructed them in line with the delivery of Lymington Shores, our community of apartments and houses just off the marina. Last year, the space was used as a Covid-19 drive through test centre. As it is vacant and spacious, in an area that isn’t heavily residential, it provides the ideal location for cars, vans and lorries to drop off and collect donations.
Residents in the area are being encouraged to support New Forest for Ukraine by donating high-quality goods that are needed by Ukrainian refugees or donating time to volunteer. Volunteers for the charity are helping sort and package up the donations or taking care of transportation to Ukraine and Poland.
While the needs of refugees are quickly changing as the situation evolves, the charity is currently seeking the following items, which can be dropped off at various drop off stations located across the area.
Required items:
- Instant meals
- Shampoo
- Hand and face creams
- Lip balm
- Body wash and soaps
- New flannels or sponges
- Flip flops
- Wheeled suitcases/bags
- Nappies big sizes, baby food in pouches and baby wipes
- New Underwear for women and children (all ages and sizes)
Our local team based in the area have also kicked off a round of fundraising, asking all local contractors and subcontractors to donate proceeds to the charity’s efforts to transport donations.
Meanwhile, last month we announced a companywide donation of £50,000 to the Ukraine Disasters Emergency Committee fund to contribute to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. We are match-funding any colleague fundraising to the Ukraine DEC of up to £1000 per colleague. Our match-fund will be capped at £100,000, with a view to generate and donate a cumulative total of £150,000 to help alleviate the crisis in Ukraine.
John Stanton, Founder of New Forest for Ukraine: “We are pleased to partner with Redrow so that we can keep up the momentum we’ve built over recent weeks in sourcing, sorting and delivering much needed clothes, food, toiletries and equipment directly to Ukrainian refugees. The situation is still acutely severe and so we are kindly asking the community to consider donating items or even their time to help with our efforts. We have been overwhelmed by the support so thank you to all who have played a part in some way.”
Ian Sneddon, Managing Director for Southern Counties, comments: “New Forest for Ukraine is a fantastic community-led initiative which is doing incredible humanitarian work for refugees. We are pleased that our Ampress Park facility is a suitable location as a drop off point and we look forward to supporting the fundraising efforts too so that all donations can be swiftly transported to refugees.”
