We have donated £1,000 to St Mary’s Church Barnham, West Sussex, in sponsorship of its extension project, which will provide additional facilities for the local community and the Church’s growing congregation.
St Mary’s Church Barnham is almost 1000 years old, with the earliest record dating back to 1086 in the Domesday Book, and today it continues to act as a focal point of the community. Currently, the Parish is made up of 9,000 people but the Revd Canon Paul Armstead, Rector of the Parish of Barnham as well as Aldingbourne and Eastergate, anticipates that this will grow to over 20,000 people over the next 10-15 years.
The extension will therefore provide much needed space for the Church’s expanding congregation and will also be used for a range of charitable purposes. In addition, the space will be open and available for use by the local community, benefitting the surrounding neighbourhood. The extension will include the provision of a meeting and activity room alongside a kitchen and is being built in partnership with the Barnham and Eastergate Parish Council and Barnham and Eastergate Community Trust.
The project is expected to be completed in three years’ time and once complete, the Church intends on hosting a celebratory event where nearby residents and members of the Parish will be invited to explore the new extension.
The Church is situated just 1 mile from Windmill Views, our community of award-winning homes in Barnham, West Sussex.
The Revd Canon Paul Armstead, commented: “We are delighted that Redrow are supporting us as we look to the future with this exciting project. The extension will provide much needed community facilities at the church, which has been and will continue to be a focal point for village life. It is with the support of businesses like Redrow, as partners in the building of community, that such visions are able to become a reality.”
Lizzie Bowden, Marketing Manager for Southern Counties, commented: “We are delighted to be donating funds to St Mary’s Church Barnham, contributing towards this truly exciting project. Windmill Views is one of our most beautiful developments, positioned right on the edge of picturesque seaside and rolling countryside, and this extension will provide valuable facilities for all those living in the vibrant community that is Barnham. We look forward to seeing the extension in all its glory once it is fully built.”
