The A48 Lydney bypass links the town to Gloucester in the east and to the motorway connections at Chepstow to the west, where you can join the M4, M5 and Severn crossings. Chepstow is 9miles, Gloucester is 19miles, Bristol and Newport are both around 27miles and Cardiff is around 40miles.

Lydney Station has direct trains to Gloucester in just 20minutes, Newport in around half an hour and Cardiff in around three quarters of an hour. You can even combine transport and leisure with a ride on the Dean Forest Railway, powered by classic steam and diesel locomotives.
