How to check your boiler
If you’re experiencing trouble with the heating, checking the boiler is always a good idea as a starting point.
It sounds obvious, but checking it’s turned on is a good place to start. If you can’t switch it on, this means there’s a problem with the power supply getting to the boiler in the first place. Check the fuse box to make sure it hasn’t tripped - if it has, just flick it back on to power up the boiler.
Once you’ve got the boiler switched on and working, keep an eye out for any error messages on the display. You should be able to check these in your boiler handbook to troubleshoot further.
If that still doesn’t solve the problem, try testing your heating and hot water system’s pressure. This is displayed on a dial, which might be located on a separate cylinder to the boiler. When you locate it, it should read ‘1.5 bar’. If the reading is any lower than this, the system will need to be repressurised.
Repressurising a boiler system is easy - check out our guide on how to adjust your system pressure for our simple to follow instructions.
