How to fix issues with hot water
If you’re having trouble with your hot water, or the radiators in your home don’t seem to be heating up properly, there are a few things you can check before calling out a technician. Often there’s a simple solution to these common problems and you’ll be warm again in no time!
Step one - Check your boiler
Whenever you have any issues with heating, it’s a good idea to check the boiler first. Start with the simplest check – is it still switched on? If you can’t get your boiler to switch on, it’s likely there’s no power going to it. Check your fuse box or consumer unit to make sure the circuit hasn’t tripped. If it has, switch it back on.
Once you know everything is switched on and powered up, check for any unusual noises or error messages on the digital display. Check these in the manufacturer’s handbook or online for your next step.
Step two - Check the system pressure
Next up is the system pressure. This may be displayed on a separate hot water cylinder, so have a look around until you find the appropriate dial. This should read 1.5 bar. If it is any lower, your system will need to be repressurised.
Don’t worry, you can easily do this yourself. Take a look at our guide on ‘how to adjust your system pressure’ and follow our easy-to-follow instructions.
Step three - Ask a technician
