Fire & surround
Fitting
If your home is fitted with a fire and surround, it should be secure and visually aligned.
It should not have conspicuous abrasions or scratches when viewed in daylight from a distance of 0.5m. Any damages should have been raised during your Home Preview or Courtesy Check.
Many of our fire surrounds are made from natural products which are easily marked and chipped; please follow the manufacturer's guidance on cleaning and maintenance.
Not working
You fire is commissioned prior to you moving in and you should have received the relevant certificates confirming this at your legal completion.
We recommend testing your fire regularly and also having it serviced annually in line with the boiler service.
Ensure that the fire switch is turned to the 'on' position and refer to the manufacturer's guidance. If issues continue contact us so that we can attend.
Missing parts
Any missing parts should have been raised during your Home Preview or Courtesy Check.
If you need to order any replacement parts in the future contact the manufacturer directly.
Sealant
Where a fitted item meets the wall it may be sealed with mastic for a clean finish.
As your new home naturally dries out and settles, shrinkage to sealant is quite normal. It can easily be replaced as part of your routine home owner maintenance and is not a defect.
