With vital fundraising activity and events on hold due to the pandemic, the fund has helped various groups, from South Leicestershire Food Bank to Marie Curie East Midlands.
The latest group to receive financial support is Smalley Road Runners, a community running group based in Heanor, Derbyshire.
Anita Bailey, Vice Chair of Smalley Road Runners, explained how the funds will benefit local people: “After a difficult 2020, with little to no club activities, we were keen to encourage more local people to get up and about, to help improve physical and mental wellbeing.
“Couch to 5k is a fantastic way to start running, or get back into training after a break. Redrow’s donation will be used to help us to improve and facilitate our welcoming couch to 5k group, led by trained run leaders and coaches, to encourage local members of the community to embrace a healthier lifestyle while making new friends.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to Redrow East Midlands. We rely on the generosity of local businesses, people and our dedicated volunteers to run the club, and this really does make a difference to the wellbeing of people in Derbyshire.”
Ryan O’Sullivan, Head of Sales for the East Midlands, added: “This year, more than ever, we felt it was important to support the communities around us as much as possible.
“Here at Redrow, we understand that the places we live are often made great by the communities within them, which is why we aim to build more than just houses. We strive to support and contribute to the communities that help to make local areas such wonderful places to live, which is why we are delighted to have donated £2,300 so far to good causes in the region like the Smalley Road Runners.
“We are looking forward to donating the remaining money from our community fund, and continuing to make a difference to the invaluable community initiatives on our doorstep.”
The donation forms part of the division’s Community Fund, which will see a total of £5,000 donated to local organisations throughout 2021.
We’re currently building homes across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire, including two, three and four-bedroom homes at Hugglescote Grange in Leicestershire, and two three and four-bedroom homes at Wellington Place at Newton Garden Village, in Nottinghamshire.
