Our East Midlands division, which is currently building new homes at Clarence Fields, on Welford Road, has presented Leicester South Foodbank with a donation of £500 as part of its commitment to creating thriving communities.
The funds will be used to support the charity in providing food parcels to local people in need. The foodbank is part of a nationwide network supported by the Trussell Trust, which works to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
It provides nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to the organisation in crisis.
Bruce Harrison, Operational Manager at Leicester South Foodbank, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for Redrow’s donation, which will greatly benefit people who need some extra support from our foodbank across Leicestershire.
“This past year has seen an increase in the need for organisations like us to exist, and as we are now in another lockdown, we expect demand to increase once again. We want to make sure that no one in our community goes hungry, and we rely on the kindness of local businesses and individuals to be able to do this.”
Ryan O’Sullivan, Head of Sales for the East Midlands, added: “We are delighted to be supporting Leicester South Foodbank as they continue to support members of the local community throughout the third lockdown.
“This past year has been especially tough for many people, and we hope that our support may allow Leicester South Foodbank to help those who may find themselves in difficult times. I’d like to thank all of the volunteers for everything that they do.”
The donation forms part of the East Midland’s Community Fund, which will see the housebuilder donate a total of £5,000 to local organisations throughout 2021.
We’re currently building homes across Leicestershire, including three and four-bedroom homes at Clarence Fields and three and four-bedroom homes at Saxon Meadows, in Market Harborough. We’ve also recently announced two new developments in the region, Chantry Mews and Hugglescote Grange.
