Our community grant scheme open to groups and good causes in Lowton, near Leigh, was so popular that we added another £1,000 to the total.
We initially offered four grants of £500 each to community groups, charities or other good causes based in, or serving, the area around our new development Oakwood Fields, Lowton.
But, after receiving a high number of applications, our Lancashire team upped the total pot to £3,000.
Sian Pitt, sales director for Lancashire, said: “We were blown away by the number of applicants for this community grant.
“There are so many great causes, organisations and groups in this area doing wonderful work to support the community that we knew we had to help as much as we could.
“These community grants are designed to support small projects at the heart of local life that can potentially make a big difference.”
One of the successful applications was St Mary’s Charitable Trust who applied for funds to decorate the kitchen at Lowton St Mary’s Community Hall.
“We were informed about the grant as the community kitchen was in desperate need of a redecoration and it is used by a wide section of the community, including weekly ‘coffee and chat’ events,” said Alan Kirkman, chair of trustees.
“We are very grateful to Redrow for this grant, which will help to improve this facility so many more people can continue use and enjoy the space for events and meet ups.”
The community grants are in addition to more than £400,000 of contributions we’re providing to the local community around the development in Lowton as part of the planning process. With over £175,000 going to local schools, £130,000 to local play areas and £110,000 to Pennington Flash Country Park to improve the area for new and existing residents.
Located in a semi-rural location, the development will have just over 100 three and four-bedroom homes. To register your interest contact our sales team on 01942447712 or visit www.redrow.co.uk/oakwoodfields
