The club, located on Kem Mill Lane, currently only has one female toilet and with a growing number of female players and spectators the extra facilities are ‘greatly needed’.
“As a community sports club we rely on grants and external funding to allow us to improve the club,” said Ian Brooke, chairman of Whittle & Clayton-le-Woods Cricket Club.
“We currently run both the England Cricket Board All Stars and Dyanamos sessions and often have over 60 young children and over 50 parents in attendance; we also host Leyland Ladies games.
“Improving the female toilet facilities is a necessary part of improving the club, so we are very grateful to Redrow for this funding.”
The cricket club was one of four local community groups to share a sum of £2,000.
Sian Pitt, sales director for Lancashire, said: “The cricket club has been an important part of the community here in Whittle-Le-Woods and the surrounding areas for over 100 years, working with all ages from junior to senior teams.
“We hope these improvements will benefit the club for many years to come.”
