As part of the ongoing community engagement in areas close to where it builds new homes, we have agreed to support 12 good causes in and around Leyland.
The donations are being made from a community fund linked to our new Worden Gardens development.
Help has been extended to a mix of schools, sports teams, charities and community based projects all designed to help others.
Sian Pitt, sales director at our Buckshaw Village-based Lancashire division, says: “We are thrilled to be helping these groups who all bring benefits to the Leyland community in one way or another. Redrow’s key values including building responsibly and creating thriving communities; we don’t just build and then leave, we want to ensure we support neighbourhood projects that have positive impacts now and in the future.”
Worden Gardens will create more than 200 homes built over four phases, offering a choice of two, three and four-bedroom family homes.
Our fund is a voluntary commitment over and above the community benefits that were agreed as part of the planning process. Under a Section 106 agreement linked to the planning, We will contribute £1.9 million towards community infrastructure, £1.2 million to off-site affordable housing provision, and £123,000 to extend Worden Park.
The beneficiaries of the community fund are:
• St Paul’s Bowling Club
• Miles of Smiles
• Wade Hall Community Association
• 8th Leyland St James Guides
• Leyland Community Radio
• St Anne’s Catholic Primary School
• High Five
• Leyland Band
• Supporting Our Young Through Mental Health
• Trusthouse Lancashire
• Worden Park Junior Run
• Central Lancashire Deaf Children’s Society
Karen Rainford, founder of Miles of Smiles said: “Miles of Smiles organise treats or ‘smiles’ for local youngsters who are going through a tough time, this is mainly young carers or siblings of youngsters who have died or live with a life-limiting condition.
“Our aim as a charity is to make local children smile at a time when they feel there is not much reason to smile and give them something to look forward to. As a small local charity, we're very grateful for Redrow's support. We can now have a website created that will enable us to promote our services to a wider audience and help many more families.”
Homes are now available at Worden Gardens with prices starting from £254,995. To find out more visit the sales centre and show homes that are open seven days a week usually from 10am to 5.30pm or call 01257 581698. Alternatively, visit www.redrow.co.uk/wordengardens.
