We have donated £500 to local branch of The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain as part of our Community Fund initiative linked to our Redrow at Houlton development.
The fund, which was launched last year, provides organisations in the region with donations to help them thrive, with local causes encouraged to apply for their share of a £10,000 pot.
The project helps those moving to the country to adjust to their new surroundings, supporting with English lessons, finances and finding work, as well as providing a safe space to connect with others in a similar position.
Weekly meetings are held in which different activities take place, and the group has even set up a yoga group and choir.
Anna Nepip-Frankis, from The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, said: “We are incredibly grateful for Redrow Midlands’ generous donation. We will be using the funds to help cover rent of the premises we use for our weekly meetings, which provide an opportunity for support, community and fun for those who have fled their home country.”
Elaine Cartwright, sales director for our Midlands division, commented: “We are thrilled to be supporting The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, a thoroughly deserving local charity, and continuing to help build thriving communities through our Community Fund initiative. Here at Redrow Midlands, we understand that a sense of community goes a long way to making somewhere feel like home, which is why we are incredibly proud to be supporting an organisation that helps people adjusting to their new area to do just that.”
The new community has excellent road and rail connections across the Midlands and beyond, with trains to London in less than an hour. The new link road also means that the train station and Rugby town is just five minutes away, and the new homes sit within easy reach of a choice of Ofsted ‘outstanding’ schools.
