The event at Woodford Garden Village was held to launch our ‘Please Play Here’ campaign – set up to actively encouraging children to play outside.
The ‘Please Play Here’ campaign uncovered that three fifths of parents in the North West say their child plays outside for less time than their generation.
The nationwide campaign has been headed by children’s psychologist and professor at Exeter University, Professor Helen Dodd, who is working with us as an expert advisor and ‘head of Playmaking’ to help develop inspiring play friendly communities for residents across the North West.
“It is so important to encourage children to play outside, and this is what our event at Woodford Garden Village aimed to do,” said Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW.
“Redrow developments are designed with play in mind, with wider streets and cul de sacs to encourage young residents to come outdoors and Woodford is a prime example of that.
“It was great to see so many people attend, thank you to all who joined us.” Woodford Garden Village is the first garden village of its kind to be built in the north of England for decades and one of the region’s largest brownfield sites.
“We had a wonderful day in Daresbury to mark the ‘Please Play Here’ campaign, it is so important to encourage children to play outside,” said Anna Evans-Kerr, sales director at Redrow NW.
“A big thank you to everyone who joined us.”
The 205-hectare development will eventually combine 920 homes, a pub, school, shops and an extensive network of green spaces including children’s play areas, cycle pathways, parks, meadows and extensive tree planting.
