Members of a gymnastics group in Ellesmere Port are positively beam-ing after receiving a donation from Redrow to purchase a new trampette.
Ellesmere Port Club of Gymnastics C.I.C were gifted funds to replace an old worn out trampette with a brand new one.
Ron Bell, head coach at the club said it’s one of the members’ favourite pieces of equipment and is a useful tool to encourage confidence in all levels of gymnasts.
“Because it was so well used, we desperately needed a replacement trampette so the money from Redrow came at the right time,” said Ron.
“As an independent club we have no outside funding and the impacts of Covid-19 on the club meant we did not have any money left to facilitate the purchase of a new trampette.”
The family run club welcomes around 350 members, aged from four and a half years old to 17 years old.
“Members come from Ellesmere port, Little Sutton, Great Sutton, all areas of Chester and beyond,” added Ron.
“So the new piece of equipment will help us continue to offer the extra station and give varied sessions to all levels of our gymnasts.”
The trampette is most commonly used to help get gymnasts up onto vaulting equipment.
We donated the money from our West Cheshire community fund. This voluntary community fund has seen £10,000 shared between 10 good causes locally. It is linked to new homes being built at Ledsham Garden Village and recently completed at The Pastures.
North West marketing manager, Sarah Weaver said: “This gymnastics club has a huge reach and that was one of the reasons why we chose to support them. Gymnastics is so good, not just for the fitness side but also for building social skills and teaching children what it is like to be part of a team. We really hope it’s a springboard for them to future success.”

Ledsham Garden Village is a scheme of circa 2,000 homes set amid 100 acres of open space. Our community fund is in addition to the £13 million investment that has been committed to support the growth of the neighbourhood.
