St Mary of the Angels Primary School in Little Sutton received money from our community fund, linked to Ledsham Garden Village, to purchase portable sensory toys for indoor and outdoor use.
The school had plans to develop its sensory room to provide access to as many of its pupils as possible – as well as children who attend Little Angels Childcare, which shares the site.
Mrs Thorpe, head teacher at St Mary of the Angels, said: “Thanks to Redrow’s donation, we now have outdoor beanbags and a basket of new sensory toys that are suitable for outdoor use. Children can borrow these resources during break and lunchtimes and set up their own sensory activities on the playground. We also welcome families, parishioners, and local people to school for events including coffee afternoons, music festivals, concerts and assemblies. Our mobile sensory room resources are great for families with young children, elderly visitors and those with additional needs who benefit from engaging with sensory focussed activities.”
Caroline Thompson-Jones, area sales manager for our North West division, said: “The sensory room doesn’t just benefit all the pupils at St Mary of the Angels, it also brings benefits to the wider community too. Sensory rooms are invaluable and provide children with a way to focus and develop their skills. We’re really pleased we were able to help the school fulfil their plans to update their sensory room.”
