Weaverham Football Club received money from our community fund to purchase ‘Player of the Week’ medals that are handed out after each game.
The club’s free football school welcomes players aged from nine to 15 and currently has 150 players over nine teams, with three girls’ teams. As an inclusive club, it caters for all skill levels.
Club chairperson Daniel Turnbull said: “With Redrow’s kind donation we have purchased 200 bespoke ‘Player of the Week’ medals. These are given out at the end of matches to players that show determination and make it clear they have taken on what was learnt at training. A positive attitude is also rewarded. The club is very thankful for the donation. They will allow us to show our players how well they play week in, week out. We try and keep costs down for our players and their families, so this donation means we haven’t had to ask parents to help us pay for the medals.”
Area sales manager for our North West division, Caroline Thompson-Jones, said: “Grassroots football is a brilliant opportunity to encourage children to be active, meet new friends and be part of a team. It’s great that the star player medals will allow the club to recognise those who have played exceptionally well each week. We hope players will feel really proud to wear the medals.”
The community fund donation is linked to our Hartford development, which has two phases on sale – Weaver Park and Water’s Reach. Both located on Woods Road, we currently have a selection of three and four-bedroom properties for sale.
