Based on Manor Road, around half a mile from Kings Moat Garden Village development, 18th Chester Scouts appealed for help to upgrade its facilities, receiving almost £1,500 for the works.
Scout leader Susan Jones explained: “It’s almost 20 years since we extended our Scout hut and had reached the point where urgent remedial work was required to the electrical system and the lighting, which constantly buzzed. Thanks to Redrow’s support we’ve been able to update the electrics and the lighting, ensuring they are safe and efficient. It’s made a big difference to the 120 young people who attend our Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer meetings, along with other groups and clubs who hire the building.”
Funding for the improvements to the Scout hut was via a voluntary £10,000 community fund linked to our Kings Moat Garden Village development.
Area sales manager Caroline Thompson-Jones said: “Groups like 18th Chester Scouts play a vital part in the community, providing opportunities for young people to socialise and learn new skills. We were happy to be able to support their renovations which in turn should help them save energy, reducing their electricity bills and their impact on the planet.”
