We stepped in with a £1,300 donation towards a blossoming garden project following a request for help from the school.
Head teacher Michael Rodgers explained: “Some of the children don’t have a garden at home and so we wanted to improve our outdoor environment garden to enable them to learn more about nature, wildlife and growing produce. Helping tend to the garden will allow the students to gain knowledge and understanding that will have long term benefits on health and wellbeing, science and nature.”
The financial support offered was via a voluntary West Cheshire Community Fund, linked to new homes being built at The Pastures at Backford Cross and nearby Ledsham Garden Village, both of which are around two miles from the school.
The community fund saw £10,000 shared between good causes in the local area.
Trainee area sales manager Chris Edwards said: “The pandemic has made everyone more appreciative of outside space and nature. Supporting Brookside Primary’s garden project links very nicely with our own biodiversity strategy of ‘nature for people’, whereby we aim to enhance wildlife habitats, as well as create new ones within the communities we create. It’s great to see the school fostering a love of nature from an early age and helping children learn about the environment around them.”
If you want to make one of our new homes your natural habitat, there’s plenty to choose from at The Pastures and Ledsham Garden Village.
The Pastures is a 100-home development that will also see almost £250,000 invested in local education, healthcare amenities and towards sports pitches in the area.
Ledsham Garden Village is a scheme of circa 2,000 homes set amid 100 acres of open space, and we’ve committed to investing £13 million to support the growth of the neighbourhood.
