A brand-new primary school has opened its doors at Ebbsfleet Green, our community of homes at Ebbsfleet Garden City. Ebbsfleet Green Primary School opened in September 2021 with a family fete for residents and local businesses to celebrate this important milestone. We funded the £5milllion school through an S106 agreement, and it will cater to pupils aged 3 to 11.
The new, environmentally friendly school includes state-of-the-art classrooms, large playing fields, a wildlife area and dipping pond and a dance studio. 48 pupils have initially been admitted across Nursery, Reception and a mixed Year 1/2 class. However, capacity will gradually increase to 420 in the main school, along with a 26-place nursery, providing capacity to support 1,200 homes.
The school represents the latest opening amongst a series of amenities we are delivering at Ebbsfleet. So far, a Co-op store, pub, play areas, parkland and a hotel have opened. Meanwhile, we have also moved our divisional offices to the flagship site.
Still to open are a set of community allotments, sports pavilion and multiple sports pitches. Not to mention, we have jointly submitted proposals with EDC for a ‘Neighbourhood House’ and ‘Community Hub’ adjacent to Ebbsfleet Primary School, hosting dedicated flexible workspace for residents working from home, alongside a shared kitchen and meeting rooms for community groups and friends to meet. These facilities are due to launch over the course of 2023/4, subject to planning.
Alkerden Village
Separate to Ebbsfleet Green, we recently acquired an additional 25-acre site in Eastern Quarry, called Alkerden Village and will form part of the wider Ebbsfleet Garden City where 15,000 new homes are being delivered.
This latest site has outline consent for 599 new homes, and we have since submitted a reserved matters application for an initial 230 contemporary one- and two-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom houses. A decision is expected before the end of the year.
Our new homes at Alkerden Village will be set amongst ample parkland with attractive landscaping and biodiversity features. Walking and cycling routes will connect the new residents to the surrounding area, including the high-speed train line from Ebbsfleet International that takes commuters to the Capital in less than 20 minutes, alongside a Fastrack bus service linking the community to surrounding town centres, transport hubs and Bluewater shopping centre.
New apartments launch across Ebbsfleet Green
Meanwhile at Ebbsfleet Green, we have launched a series of apartments across Regent Village and Ebbsfleet Quarter, the two most recent phases.
At Regent Village, a range of one- and two- bedroom apartments have just launched, with Help to Buy available. The apartments accompany the range of three and four-bedroom houses from our Regent Collection.
Similarly, several two-bedroom apartments are now available at Ebbsfleet Quarter, amongst a range of three- and four-bedroom homes from our award-winning Heritage Collection.
565 homes are now occupied at Ebbsfleet Green since construction began in 2015. The homes are being built across seven phases, half of which have now sold out.
Final phase launching soon
Plaza Central, the final phase of Ebbsfleet Green, is due to launch in early 2022. The development will comprise 126 bespoke apartments, ranging between one- and two-bedrooms, and with 47 available at affordable tenure.
