Our South East division has acquired a 10-acre site in Strood with outline consent, where we are planning to deliver 130 new homes, with a GDV of £49 million. The new site sits adjacent to our hugely popular 230-home Temple wharf development on the River Medway, with stunning views overlooking Rochester.
The latest acquisition continues the division’s expansion across Kent, having 18 active or forthcoming sites across the county.
The new site will be known as Temple Woods and will provide a mix of open market and affordable homes ranging from one- and two-bedroom apartments to three- and four-bedroom houses. The site has been acquired with outline consent and a reserved matters application is being prepared and will be submitted to Medway Council shortly.
The site is only a stone throw from the River Medway, with a public square delivered during the earlier phase, providing a seating area and steps down to a new public footpath. We’re also supporting Medway Council with the provision and maintenance of open space adjacent to the development.
As part of the acquisition, we will also contribute towards local services, including bus services, health provision, waste management and community facilities.
Temple Woods will be exceptionally well-connected to London and the surrounding area, via the high-speed rail from Strood station. Journeys to London take just 35-minutes, while the seaside towns of Whitstable and Margate are less than an hour away.
Glen Wells, Land Director for the South East, commented: “We are delighted to have completed on the acquisition of this site in Strood as it enables us to continue delivering our award-winning homes in this highly desirable riverside location. Our neighbouring site, Temple Wharf, has proven extremely popular with 90% of the new homes sold and 196 homeowners moved in. This site perfectly reflects our strategy of acquiring land in well-connected locations with amenities on the doorstep.”
The site was acquired from Morgan Timber.
