Redrow South Midlands, currently building at Tudor Meadow in Sawston, has donated £1,500 to Cambridge Cancer Help Centre, a charity that offers support to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, and their families.
The funds are being used to host three, weekly sessions of low-impact physical activity designed for those with cancer diagnoses at the centre in Great Shelford. The classes include dance for fitness and body toning, and feature a mixture of yoga, Tai Chi, and resistance exercises.
The classes, which are free of charge, are run by a professional fitness leader who specially tailors the sessions for those with cancer or who have a similar diagnosis, and for individuals in remission or recovery. The classes run every Monday at 11:30am, Tuesday at 2:30pm, and Wednesday at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
Authur Gibbons, Board Trustee at Cambridge Cancer Help Centre, said: “This is a fantastic donation from Redrow and will have a huge impact for those in the local community who either have, or have recovered from, a cancer diagnosis. As a charity, we rely on kind donations such as this to continue hosting important services, such as these classes, that are beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing. We’re incredibly grateful – thank you, Redrow!”
Andrew Newman, Sales Director at Redrow South Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Cambridge Cancer Help Centre with the incredible service they offer for those facing a cancer diagnosis in the local community.
“The support that the charity provides ensures that people in Cambridge have somewhere and someone to turn to following a cancer diagnosis. We hope that our contribution can help make a real difference and ensures that a diagnosis doesn’t stop people from enjoying exercise.
“As members of the Cambridgeshire community, we want to create and support thriving communities in and around the developments where we are building new homes, and supporting Cambridge Cancer Help Centre was a wonderful opportunity to do just that.”
Cambridge is a well-connected location, with accessible transport links to London for busy commuters, and a choice of three to five-bedroom homes for those with growing families. We are currently building new homes at Tudor Meadow, on Babraham Road, Cottenham Grove, on Rampton Road, and All Saints Gardens, on Haslingfield Road.
