The stage will be hosted by singer, dancer and actor, Jack Trinder, fresh from his tour around Australia and New Zealand with World of Musicals. He will host local talent such as Southampton-based Drag Queen, Mileena Wyntr, and folk-punk artist Pip Summers and Portsmouth-based Drag Queen, Claire Deloon, and musician, Will and the Starlight, amongst many others. The main stage will see headliners, Liberty X perform, alongside Drag Syndrome.
Pride is one of the biggest events in the city and the biggest and highest-attended LGBTI+ event in the region, with close to 20,000 attendees last year. This year it will be held on Saturday 26th August from 11am-10pm in Guildhall Square, located just off Above Bar Street in Southampton City Centre. The march will begin at 10am setting off along the High Street towards the Bargate.
A spokesperson for Southampton Pride commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome Redrow on board this year, not only as a sponsor for the event but our first ever stage sponsor. Our SO Stage sponsored by Redrow is a hugely popular element of our event which specialises in displaying the best musicians, performers, singers and drag from our local community area.
“Sponsorship from a well-known public brand such as Redrow helps us to elevate this stage to new levels and bring greater attention to such a fantastic, diverse entertainment lineup as well as assisting Southampton Pride with key funding at such a difficult time for non-profit events up and down the country.”
This year, the event sports a new look and new focus too, after feedback from the community, putting more of the protest back into proceedings. For the first time, the march will be led by LGBTQ+ activists and campaigners, giving them a voice to be heard by all those throughout town and lining the streets.
Redrow Southern Counties’ own Managing Director, Matt Paine, will be in attendance at the event, participating in the march and celebrations.
Matt Paine, Managing Director at Redrow Southern Counties commented; “We are so thrilled to be the first ever sponsors of a stage at Southampton Pride. It is important to Redrow to support all members of our local communities, and we are committed to creating inclusive and supportive environments, whether for our employees or for those who live in our communities. We are grateful to be able to be a part of this important event and look forward to seeing everyone celebrating pride and enjoying the festivities!”
Our nearby communities include Harbour Views, Elm Green and Ash Gardens, offering three- to five-bedroom homes.
