10th February 2021

Our Thames Valley division, has announced eight apprenticeships available to students in the area.

The successful applicants will work across developments including The Steeples, a major new development in Oxford, and Badbury Park, in Swindon.

The apprenticeships will allow students with a passion for construction to build their vocational skills and will focus on different aspects of house building, including bricklaying and carpentry.

The intake follows the success of the Thames Valley division’s ongoing apprenticeship scheme, which has been running since 2019. The scheme gives students in the local area an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a career in housebuilding.

Among them is 17-year-old Declan Williams, from Swindon, who is currently in the second year of his carpentry apprenticeship at Badbury Park.

Declan said: “When I left school, I knew wanted to learn a trade, as it’s a career path that will set you up for life.

“I looked into several different apprenticeships when leaving school and discovered that Redrow was recruiting at Badbury Park, not far from where I live. After applying, I was thrilled to be offered the apprenticeship. I spend most of my time learning on site, and go to Wiltshire College once a week to study.

“The best thing is that I am part of a fantastic team, I enjoy each day and gain practical, hands-on experience – which I find is the ideal way to learn. I think the key to being a good apprentice is being enthusiastic and learning from your mistakes.”

Sarah Boyce, Sales Director of the Thames Valley division, said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to providing local apprenticeships, we ensure a number of roles are made available annually, and this year, more than ever, we’re delighted to be recruiting for eight students to join our team. The apprenticeships give ambitious students the opportunity to step straight into a career where they gain hands-on experience and continue to learn.

“A large proportion of our apprentices choose to stay with Redrow Homes once they have completed the scheme, becoming experts in their field as a result. It’s fantastic to have seen so many success stories, including Declan, who continuously impresses us with his hard work and dedication. I’d encourage any school leavers looking for a rewarding career to apply to our scheme, we look forward to welcoming our next group of Redrow apprentices.”

Applications for our apprenticeship scheme are now open. Students can apply by visiting apply.redrowcareers.co.uk/vacancies
